Like when you buy a new pair of blue jeans and new white shoes and the dye from the jeans gets on the shoes. How can you prevent or remove the dye??

Wash the jeans a few times before you wear them. To remove the dye from your shoes, your best bet is to use a multi-purpose spray cleaner like 409 and either an old toothbrush or old rag. A sponge may make it worse, based on my experience. The sponge will just smear the dye around!

You can try washing the jeans when you get them home to remove the excess dye. And make sure not to wash the shoes and the jeans in the same load.
