If Roman Catholics call them "Father" then that's what you should call them - if you don't fear being ostracized for calling them something else.
Keep in mind that this is RC tradition, and though it is not sanctioned anywhere in the Bible, nor by the early church fathers, you either call them what that body calls them, or seek fellowship elsewhere. However, it's NOT blasphemy, as the other poster stated. It's just biblically incorrect and lacking spiritual protocol to call ANY man "father" who isn't either your biological father, or your Heavenly Father.
But to be fair, neither is it appropriate for protestants to be calling people "Reverend" either.
When you make things up, and do things blindly out of tradition, this is what causes confusion.

ok - I'm bored with reading most of these wrong answers...are any of these people even Roman Catholic and if they are, attend church more than once a year??? I am/was born, raised and currently attending - You call a Pastor, "Father". Reverend or calling them "Pastor" is I think for Prodestants (sp), but we, Roman Catholics, do not call them Reverand.

The Bible gives you the answer, you should not call any by the word of father than you Father in Heaven.
A Pastor is someone who takes care of the sheep.
Just call him by the fist name, that’s what I have done for more than 20 years and the bishops et cetera.

Pastor and then his first name. Unless he tells you to call him by his first name.
To help you understand the mentality of the 'non-catholic', think of it this way. It is blasphemy to call anyone but God, the Father.

A pastor is someone who is chosen by God for a ministry. Unfortunately, there are some pastors who aren't called by God.
