Do you support Ethiopia's invasion of Somalia, and it's attempt to impose a Christian government on an overwhelmingly Muslim country?

Actually, the last "elected" government in Somalia was overthrown by General Mohammad Siad Barre in October 1969.
His dictatorship ruled that country from 1969 until it's overthrow by a revolt of the Somali clans in 1989.
Two years later, America tried to invade Somalia and impose a government at gunpoint - which didn't work.
From 1991 to 2003, the Somali clans and their Islamic courts ruled Somalia - they had no internationally recognized government, but the "technicals" - the clan militias - more or less kept public order.
In 2003, the UN tried to impose a Christian dominated governent on that largely Muslim country - it didn't work, and the Christian regime is confined to one small Ethiopian Army-garrissoned town near the Ethiopian border.
It is this illegitimate foreign sponsored regime that Ethiopia is trying to ram down Somalia's throat at gunpoint.

A "Final Solution To The Somali Problem"?
Isn't that what Hitler said about the Jews?
And you wonder why the Muslim countries hate us so much? That kind of straight up genocidal mentality is part of the problem!

NO.Keep in mind most people on Somalia even the Christians support Islamic Courts. The government is trying to make it a religious issue when in reality its about the Somalis getting sick and tired of curruption. Here Are some facts:
- Somalia is a mostly muslim country.
-Also the Somalian government is extremely corrupt and oppressed its people ..
-Before the Islamic courts took over Somalia was full of checkpoints;and inorder to go passed the government warlords you had to pay them.
-foreign aid barely reached Somalia due to the governments curroption(unless it was sold to them)
-If you wanted to open a business you would have to pay for protection and if you didn't God help you.
-When the Islamic courts took over the Somali people stood together and stopped all checkpoints and helped and stop corruption and crime went dramatically lower.
-They (the islamic courts )told the gov. that they dont want to take over the government they are just sick of the crimes and corruption .
-The Somali government's warlords tried to go about their business of terror but with the help of the Somali people they were all brought to justice.
-They(the islamic courts) have never punished anyone for their religion.
-The Somali gov..wants to dismantle the Islamic courts inorder to go back to oppressing its ppl..so they asked Ethiopia for help since most Somalis dont support their gov. and told them that this is a religious war even affiliating it with AlQaeda which the courts deny..
P.S.If Islamic courts were oppressive then WHY do ALL SOMALIS SUPPORT THEM and not their government..
-Ethiopia has no right to occupy and attack and kill innocent ppl..Its wronge And there is NOO excuse....
IF you want accurate info speak to a native Somali he would know.
I hope this helps remeber not to believe everything you hear ...

Is Ethiopia within its rights to enter Somalia in what it terms "self-defence"? Possibly. An Islamic movement that has made strong statements against Ethiopian sovereignty (as the "enemies of God") must be regarded as a legitimate threat.
That said, since Ethiopia is one of America's strongest allies in Africa, this action, however justified, must seem to Muslims to be yet another example of the new Christian crusade, even if Ethiopia is a 50% Muslim country.
Americans tend not to remember history older than the founding of their country. Unfortunately, in other parts of the world, battles, wars, and grudges are remembered for millenia. In this case, the ancient grudge between the Amharic-speaking peoples of Abyssinia and the Muslims around them in Eritrea and Somalia has been relit yet again, and that can easily be depicted as another front in the new Christian-Muslim World War.
In a way, that is what we're dealing with here, isn't it? World War III: the Last Crusade? Sounds like a great movie, shame about all the death and destruction...

That's an incorrect assessment of the situation. Somalia HAS an elected government, which is secular. The problem is there is an insurgency that has forced the de juris government to flee the capital.
If Ethiopia wants to help support an elected government, so be it.

You are soooo full of it.
I support Ethiopia defending itself from a Muslim country attempting to annex part of Ethiopia and attempting to impose Islamic government on a Christian country.

It's invasion is not for the purpose of imposing a Christian government. It's to keep a Muslim ally in charge of a neighbor rather than rabid Sharia Law fanatics. Since Somalia has been in chaos for many years, I support ANYONE going in and imposing order, for their own good.

Before they invaded the Islamists did say they declared war on Ethiopia. If that doesn't give you a reason to kick butt and take names, nothing ever will. I for one wish that a final solution to the Somalia problem comes out of this

A Christian theocracy is no better than an Islamic theocracy.
This is just another example of religion starting war, again.
