Who was better? David lee roth or sammy Hagar?

Depends on the type of music you like. Sammy tends to do more mushy love stuff where Dave kicks it old school rock style. My vote goes with Diamond Dave. :)

David Lee Roth. He was the one who helped put Van Halen on the map. Van Halen had most of their hits with David Lee Roth singing. Their later stuff sounded more like Sammy solo stuff than VanHalen. I'm not taking anything from Sammy Hagar. He's a great songwriter in his own right, but David Lee Roth was the face of Van Halen when they first started and for many years after that.

I didn`t think that he would be but Sammy Hagar was better! Have you seen David Lee Roth lately? Talk about someone not aging well!

Sammy Hagar was the better singer of the two, but David Lee Roth's larger-than-life antics complemented the band so well, I'll give the nod to him. I liked the tongue-in-cheek approach in songs like "Hot for Teacher".

I liked that Sammy brought more depth to the group because he also played guitar.
But Dave had the frontman thing down. He really defined the group.
