First back up stuff like documents, internet favorites, Outlook addresses, music, to a CD. Now insert your Windows XP CD or factory restore CD, restart the computer and a wizard will walk you through it. Best of luck, chow.

I had to do this recently so,,,
boot up from your CD of windows,
it will ask you to format the disc,
choose the highest shown number available for the partition.
Your done.

insert the xp system disc

boot from cd / dvd

option to reformat will be part of the xp install

dear
if you want to format your full hard disk then you need to work with disk utility
or
simply connect your hard disk with other system as slave and format your hard disk.
or
if you want to format your bootable partition only
boot from cd and use format option given ...
