im worried about my SAT scores because they are so low 1580 out of 2400. but I heard that they look at the application as a whole. is that true? In that case I dont have to worry much about the SAT score then right?

Are you ready for this one? I am sure you have heard the saying "TRUTH" can be stranger than fiction. What I am going to write is True and is documented..
Personally I do not see anything that qualifies you to enter Stanford!
I am a Stanford graduate entering Aug. '70 and graduated June '71. (No typo!!!)
I come from a lower middle class family with no kind of societal connection except with my Source...God as some people call it.
Just a brief history of my educational back ground. Graduate ('C' average and voted by the Higher School Teachers Association most likely "NOT TO SUCCEED' in Life!). I was not planning on going to college since school was HELL for me from the first day of the first grade until I finally arrived at Stanford. I attended 8 colleges and University (kicked out of most and pretty much flunked out of the rest). I actually signed up and registered in 3 colleges in the same month and was kicked out of all three before the month ended. I use to drink a lot of alcohol and was always drunk in Class from 18 to 24.
Anyway by the time I got to Stanford I was 26 years old.
When I applied I was actually living in Palo Alto but my birth place and all prior educational experiences where in Texas. So I decided I would take my IMPRESSIVE CREDENTIALS directly to the Dean of Admissions. I was received by Him and we spoke but it was not a nice conversation. Matter of fact we actually got into physical fight and people had to be brought in to separate us. I AM not a person to be told "I can not do something" which he said ... "what I wanted to do was impossible (1) enter Stanford (he said he had 1500 applications from the Best students/families in America and around the world and had only 150 openings) and (2) to complete Graduation in one year was impossible. Stanford was on the quarter system and so July 15. '70 the results would be forthcoming. I was driving down the Street in Palo Alto that day and stopped at a pay phone and decided to call to see. I never dreamed what I heard over the phone. YES! ... you have been accepted. I actually collapsed in the phone booth. I could not get up for 5 minutes.
Anyway Aug. 70 I begin with no money in my pocket. When I went to register for classes the school told me everything would be paid for as well as give me a job in the psychology dept. to help me live (food, clothing transportation, etc.) and pay my off campus expenses.
Anyway I was allowed to bring Credits from all my other Universities but they would only allowed me to enter as Junior. So I did my Junior, Senior, first year Graduate School and one year research for the psychology department in one year (4 quarters)
The reason for the first year Graduate courses was because before starting classes in Aug. I spoke to all the undergraduate professors and told them I already knew all the information pertaining to western psychology. They all responded and said they would give me an 'A' in their undergraduate classes if I would take their first year graduate program classes which they also taught as well as invited me to assist them in the various psychological research which was going on at Stanford at that time (which I also got paid for in addition to the other money I spoke about above). So to end this reply to your answer. I graduated with a major in Psychology and a minor in Philosophy and Constitutional Law with a 3.85 GPA on a 4.0 point system. Not to bad for an idiot?
That is why I answered you question as I did above. They oblivisiously are looking for a special kind of person. My only specialty is my relationship with Source-God as I stated above. I finished my PhD program in (Integral Psychology, Philosophy and Religion - meaning both Eastern and Western) in 2 years at California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco) . MIRACLES DO HAPPEN FOLKS!!!
Thanks. I hope a miracle happens for ALL of you!
