The first thing to do is set an intention before meditating. Are you wanting information for yourself or for someone else? Keep focused on your intention throughout your meditation.
But to be sure, you can always ask the spirit/person who the message is for. They will give you the answer.
If you are new to doing this, I would recommend only focusing on messages for yourself. Lots of people are not open to hearing messages, and it is often not our place to tell them anyway, which can be hard since we want to be helpful.
Also, if you are speaking with spirits/people/entities, be sure to use lots of personal protection before, during and after a session. That will help prevent you from taking on negative energy. The easiest method is to imagine white light coming out of your heart. Imagine it filling your whole body and surrounding you like an egg. It pushes out everything negative in its past, leaving you clear and protected.
I hope that helps!

You are lucky, as many people find meditation a difficult skill to muster, especially when it comes to applying various visual and audial techniques.
In order to develop this talent, simply ask the people why are they there, and is there any way in which you could help them.
Take your time. Listen. Observe. You will get your answers when you yourself are ready (even though someone is obviously thinking that you already are).
Meanwhile, I think you ought to make sure that you stay grounded and protected on your journey. I don't know what you believe in, but just by lighting a white candle and saying a few words that confirm your choice to stay within the realm of love and light should repel any mischievous energy.
And I hear that some people might choose to use white sage and cypress smudge-sticks or other (natural!) insences to clear the space and open up the right channels, before emerging onto their meditative travels with a lovingly programmed crystal or two in their hands or pockets, and a couple of drops of relevant essential oils on their chakra-points... And others invite an angel or two - Archangels, even! - to come along for a safer ride... There are many paths, but only one is truly yours.
Have fun - and stay safe.

I believe in spiritualism and mediumship, the more you meditate the better you will understand the spirit world, why not pop along to your local spiritualist church, its free and there are some really good mediums there, they also have an open circle once a month and this helps you develop your gift and meditation, good luck.

I do not know what age are you, but entering in these things could deturn you from your initial carma - being married, having kids and good profession, learning many lessons from the life etc.
Some people understand this and can wait if they have a specific gift to be developed so as not to be in contradiction with God's will
More we know about the world and the life more we can be oriented in good and bad and choose what to do incl.mediumship,
clairvoyance etc. that are so modern now, but in fact not rarely a
dirty business or evils temptation.

I wouls suggest exploring the issue a bit more deeply before deciding to develop what you are experiencing. Many people who have developed this claim that they believe in a Higher Power, for example, God. Sylvia Brown, who I am sure you may be familiar with, claims on television to believe in God. If one believes in the spirit world, which contains a God, would one not want to listen to what that God has to say about such gifts? Here are two examples from scripture on this issue that I hope are helpful to you:
Le 19:31 - Show Context
"'Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the Lord your God.
Le 20:6 - Show Context
"'I will set my face against the person who turns to mediums and spiritists to prostitute himself by following them, and I will cut him off from his people.
If you believe that there is a God in this spiritual world, which I do myself do, He has many other things to say about the spirit world. There is a very easy website to use to search what all His answers are on this topic. Go to www.crosswalk.com, and under the bar that says "Faith", click on Bible Study Tools. You don't have to be a Christian, it's just a really easy way to find answers to common issues, such as this one, in the scriptures. I always think a well rounded approach is best before diving into something new. If you look up the topic "spiritual gifts", there is also a gift called discerning of the spirits that is given only to people who are Christians, who profess Jesus Christ to be their Saviour. Search for it in the New Testament.

You are on the pathway follow what your voices say but decipher what is good and evil.
Deception can be out there I suggest you get proper training before you do anything.
Welcome to the New World like you I too have seen and heard voices unlike you I chose to follow what was said and paid a harsh penalty.
Never reveal to anyone what you are told in a sense just edge around it, never reveal OK.

That said, I had an experience that led me to think that there are an awful lot of energies out there that we know nothing about.
Your mind is a receiver as well as a transmitter and so who is to say that you are not 'attuned' to certain vibes/patterns/energies etc etc.
As for development I'm afraid I have no idea but I'd bet that it the main it is down to you....

Consider that you are really in contact with other dimensions of yourself, parts that may be registering parts of your experiences that you receive through your 5 senses but that are not in your conscious awareness. There may be important information within these insights, but there is no reason to believe they come from anywhere beyond your own brain.

I believe and what you are experiencing is a blessing. But you have to pray and make sure the messages are coming from the right path. Keep on praying and the holy spirit will show you the way.
