Afghanistan, Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Palestinian territories (West Bank and Gaza strip), Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syrian Arab Republic, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.

The term Middle East was coined by Europeans. From Europe, if you go East, East Asia (China, Japan, Korea, etc) is the "Far East" making west Asia the "Middle East" as sort of the center point from Europe to East Asia.

The name middle east is a misnomer.
Since China used to be the far east or orient and these countries were between Byzantium, the eastern city, they were called the middle east.
By the way above is due to europeans.

Think of a globe, north up. One meridian, the one going through Greenwich (near London, UK) is chosen as the Prime Meridian, 0 degree longitude. On the opposite end of the globe, there is a corresponding meridian with 180 degrees longitude. Together these divide the world in two halves: the western hemisphere and the eastern hemisphere.

When using the Prime Meridian as the basis, the far east is approximately twice as far as the middle east. It's that simple.

You already got several lists of countries. Besides, things change.

the middle east countries are:

Turkey, Cyprus, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, Palestine (now Israel), Jordan, Egypt, The Sudan, Libya, and the various states of Arabia proper (Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Yemen, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, and the Trucial States, or Trucial Oman [now United Arab Emirates]

because in ancient times..the lands near the pacific were known as far east and so the lands near the greeks were known as near east..but later on.. turkey was the only land to be known as near east because at that time.. the other countries of near east have been converted into islam.. so in between the far and the near.. it is the term "middle east"..

with the aid of fact from the perspective of the West (as in Europe, i think of this term of word got here visiting long before the rediscovery of the Americas) there have been no good maps to apply as connection with the worldwide at super, and so, Asia replaced into in simple terms the East. The some distance East is obviously China, Mongolia, Japan, etc with the aid of its long distance away. the midsection East, replaced into for sure, the midsection, the midway factor between Europe and the some distance East. human beings could commerce from places like India back to Europe, paying for and advertising spices and etc.
