Have you ever had an experience that changed you and felt older and kind of lost your childhood?

An experience I can't forget was an accedent that almost caused my life, I was still young and I can't forget the scenery because it shocked me and still feel shocked when I think of it, it changed me and it's the only thing I want to forget through my life.

9/11 attacks. I volunteered for a search and rescue team and my precinct firehouse. It sure changed me... permanently. as far as loosing my childhood, no. most of all it gave me a deeper awareness.
