Go to your local Lowe's or Home Depot and buy a disposal key...(should be near the disposal in the store)It look kinda S shaped. If you look beside the red button on the bottom of unit there is a hole(directly in the center of the bottom) Put the key in the hole and work it around a few times...That should free your jamb. Good luck.

Same problem
If it still hums after hitting the reset button, look for the bottom end of shaft.
There will be a small hexagonal socket which accepts a wrench that should have come w/ disposer.
If not , an Allen wrench that fits will do.
Shaft should move freely.
If not , you could have have a jam causing the motor to load up & trip the breaker.
Turn shaft in both directions until it frees up.
Look for objects in basket & clear out.
Reset & try again.
Good luck

If it is humming then you don't need to reset it. The motor has frozen due to lack of use. I deal with this problem on a daily basis at work.
What you will need to do is this:
1. Make sure the power is off.
2. Pull the rubber boot out of the sink if possible.
3. you will need either a piece of wood about 2x2 and about 18 inches long.
Put this into the disposal and try to unjamb it. It may take some finess but it will start moving again.
Once it does, remove the board and turn switch on briefly to make sure it is working.
4. Once you have done this, flip the switch on to it atleast once a week just to keep it freed up.
Good luck.

should have a reset button, press and depress, this should work
If this does not work disconnect from outlet and reconnectt.
if this does not work, use a broomstick to clear out any obstruction, just be careful not to use your hands, this is very, very careful.

Look for a Red button on front or side and push. That should re-set it.
