Does a new transmission installed in a 1996 Lumina Van really cost $2,500 and is it woth it?

This van runs great and does not give us many problems, until now. It has 140,000 miles and we expect to drive it until it dies. Would you install a rebuilt transmission for $1,500 or a new one for $2,500?

Get 1500 trans with a warranty. If your engine were a bit newer than I will get new trans but your engine getting very old too.

go with a rebuilt ...it still cost more than your van is worth
