My doctor said it to me best when I was concerned about my little girl touching her vagina all the time:
it feels good when you do it, right?
Kids, especially at this age, are going to start exploring their bodies. They are now learning about who they are and they aren't just a face that gets fed. He should be crawling around by now and starting to master the art of fine motor skills. He doesn't have pain down there. He's just learning that he has a penis. And it feels pretty alright when he touches it. It's just human nature in its rawwest form.
What I did with my little girl: when she was old enough to understand, I told her that her vagina is covered by panties and jeans because they are private. And if she wants to, she can do whatever she wants in private. But please don't touch your vagina in public because it embarasses some people and some people don't want to watch you grab yourself. She eventually just stopped touching herself altogether.
It's going to happen. Just go with the flow. He'll leave himself alone (in front of you) eventually. Good luck momma!

I think this is fairly normal for the age. I don't think he could cause serious harm to himself since he's old enough to know to let go if he grabs too hard.
Still, if you're worried, you might take him to the doctor and ask. Or just make sure he has diapers on most of the time. Good luck.

I have two boys ages 3 and 2 and they both did this in fact sometimes my 2 yr old still does. I remember my husband just about passed out the first time our son did it. It is completely normal, he is just discovering himself. When he gets older prob- 2 he will realize that grabbing yourself and pulling = pain. Just remember at that age they will let you know if something hurts!

Honey, this is perfectly normal behavior for a baby boy. I have 2 sons and they were about 3 months old when they found "theirs" and would grab it during diaper changes. They won't hurt themselves. If they do, they will stop. Both my boys done it alot and even now, I still have to correct them from running around with their hands down their undies. ( I don't shame them, I let them know that it's a private thing and to do it in private if they are going to do it.) Perfectly normal. Good luck!!
Edit to add: My boys are 3 and almost 5

Yep, it's completely normal. He has just "discovered" himself and sees it as a "new toy". He won't do anything to hurt himself, and if he accidently does, at least he'll know to be careful down there. Every baby boy goes through this. As long as he doesn't whip oit out in public you have nothing to worry about. He'll eventually get used to it and forget about it, but if you feel at some point he has done it for too long and needs to stop, then everytime he does it, direct his attention somewhere else.

So yea next time you have chicken or some thing provide your daughter a tiny tiny piece to chew on and notice what occurs! additionally my son has been eating the mummy's Recipe infant nutrients from Heinz, and he basically loves it. despite the fact that it says 8 months on the jar he's been eating it from approximately 7- 7 a million/2 months previous.

It's pretty normal for babies of all ages to touch their genitals, especially boys, so I wouldn't worry, He should have the natural instinct not to hurt himself down there and to a baby this is no different than exploring his nose or ears.

LOL. My daughter started doing that around that time. It's totally normal. She's 11 months and still does it and will probably continue. It's just a part of their development. You did it, too!

It's normal. All babies do this. He's just discovering different parts of his body. If he hurts himself, he'll stop. Nothing at all to worry about.

Quit worrying so much, it's normal. If he hurts himself, he won't pull as hard next time. It's called learning!
