Have I got a stomach bug or is this a normal pregnancy symptom? I have had a pain on my side going through to my back for a couple of weeks on and off. The diarrhea started yesterday. I woke up really hungry this morning so ate three plain biscuits.I have not had diarrhea today yet but I have got stomach pains as if I need to go to the toilet. I am really hungry but dont know what I should eat and Im worried incase theses are bad signs of my pregnancy. I cant get to see my GP till the new year and I dont want to turn up at the hospital in case Im over reacting. Should I be worried?

It is readily obvious that it can be easily thought being normal which could be also a sign of a problem. I had such experience before which I truly believed it was normal symptoms for early pregnancy which was not. I ended having a ruptured ectopic pregnancy after a week of having similar symptoms as you described. So I suggest you see a doctor, better to do it early than to be sorry. Tell your doctor everything about the pain and expect that vaginal ultrasound might be done to check your pregnancy.

It sounds more like the stomach flu rather than pregnancy. Nausea is normal for pregnancy but not the diarrhea. Make sure you stay hydrated, and I would contact a local pharmacist before taking any over-the-counter medications. Have you thought about an urgent-care center? It's not exactly the hospital, but if you need to see someone prior to seeing your OB/GYN or PMD, it may work. You can also call the DR's office of either and ask to speak to the RN. Most of the time you will get voice mail. Just leave your question and they will call you back with an answer. Then you can discuss the situation with the RN. Good luck, and congratulations.

It sounds like a stomach bug. Morning sickness is nausea, sometimes with vomiting, not stomach pains and diarrhea. This is probably unrelated to your pregnancy. I would get some rest for a couple of days and see how it goes, but I'm not a doctor. If you're really worried, then go to the ER, especially if it gets worse.

I don't think you are over reacting. You really need to see a doctor. So what if it turns out to be nothing. Better to be safe than sorry. The pains in the side and back could be your kidneys and or a urinary infection, and this needs to be checked out. If you are hungry you should eat, but just go with the dry biscuits or toast until you know for sure the diarrhea has stopped. But get to the hospital to be sure. Tell them everything, don't forget the pains in your side and back. Don't forget to drink plenty of boiled water. Best of Luck

I had a hard time with food too when I was first pregnant. So much is going on inside that it's easy to get all sorts of stomach problems.

Try eating high protein foods, which will help. Egg whites with a little cheese have been working like a charm for me.

I think it sounds more like an intestinal bug. Are you running a low fever?

You can have pains in your stomach, like period cramps, or pulled muscles, thats normal. And ive heard of some women getting diarrea when pregnant early on.

Just call your GP and ask, better safe than sorry.

Yes its from the hormonal changes, some women get majorly constipated others diarrhea. Keep pushing fluids if nothing else while your body adjusts to being pregnant.

it sounds like an intestinal virus. sadly, there is very little that can be done for it. just take in plenty of fluids, and try the BRAT diet. it concists of bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast. not very tasty, but it will keep you from starving, and hopefully the bananas will regulate you a little better. if not, try a minor emergency clinic. they will most likely give you a shot of limodal, which will stop the diarreah.

You really should see a medical professional. Are there any free clinics in your area that you could go to? Planned Parenthood could help enormously; there are also government clinics. You have to wait in line, but your health might be at risk, or your baby.
