Yes, or at least it's pretty close to biting. They stick their long, thin mouth into your skin sort of like a syringe, and suck blood out. It isn't biting the same way we bite, but it's still done using their mouth so yeah I suppose it is biting.

Oh, and by the way it's only the females that do that. The males just live off nectar or something.

Mosquitoes don't actually bite. They insert their proboscis (a long, stra-like nose) into your skin and withdraw blood. They also leave behind stuff as well, which is how you can catch West Nile Virus if you are "bitten".

No they inject with a sharp proboscis. They "treat" you to a little anesthetic similar to lidocaine as well.
