sometimes you just have to let them cry, it helps their lungs. just check on him every now and then. thats what i had to do with my 2 1/2 yr old when he was 10 months cuz he did the same thing. my mom told me just to let him cry. good luck.

This may sound weird but his crib may be too confining for him. When my son was 10 months old he did the same thing and was waking up 4-5 times a night and it would take forever to get him back to sleep. After about 2 weeks I figured out that he didn't like his crib so I took his mattress out of his crib and put it on the floor. I put away anything that could hurt him and put a gate on the door.
He cried for about 45 minutes at first but he loves it now. He can play with his toys and go to sleep when he ready to fall asleep on his own.

the reason is becuase he knows you will eventually give in!! He has you trained already LOL. Kids know when their have manipulated their parents and know what they have to do to win. Just let him cry next time, you should try rubbing his back the first day , then sitting next to the crib the 2nd, and slowly move away from the crib and eventually out of the room by the 4th day. do noy pick HIM UP!! I know its hard but your baby will be fine, once he realizes you wont give in he will finally fall asleep. It may take a few times but it will work. BUT if you give in and pick him up at all during the process you have to start all over from square 1!!!

Unfortunatly for you mom, this is a normal, but hard, time for you and baby, I went through the same thing! If you are serious about stopping this behavior you should look into books about sleep training. You will be surprised at the number of different ways there are to sleep train your baby instead of just letting them cry all night. The method I used put a chair in their room and slowly moved it out. Sounds nuts but it worked. The book I read was called "The Sleep Sence Solution". I forgot the author but it is on the internet. Good luck!!

Let him cry. You keep pickign him up and putting him to sleep in your arms, thats why he cries in the crib, because he knows you will eventually give in and make him fall asleep.
Put him down almost asleep, but not sleeping. Quiet, but not closed eyed. let him fall asleep on his own.

let him cry. i know it sucks but if you keep picking him up you're just gonna make the problem worse. and he'll know you'll give in to anything if he cries long enough. my girl did the same thing. in a couple weeks of leaving him alone to sleep he'll get the picture and do it on his own.

he is normal. this is a stage. just let him fall asleep in your arms.
i swear he won't be doing it when he is 11 or 25. it's temporary.
they go through this stage.
i disagree with the others who say let him cry it out. i don't think that helps. i am an experienced mom who raised two kids to adulthood.
