Few things are more annoying than someone who talks for the sake of hearing their own voice. But it's also annoying when people just yammer on without thinking about what they're saying. I guess finding a balance between the two is the key.
I also find that it is incredibly important (and sometimes challenging) to listen to someone else talk without forming your response in your head. Try it - it can be hard! *Just* listen and clear your head, and don't start thinking about what to say in response until they completely finish.

I don't talk to myself out loud, but I do it mentally all the time and I always feel like I'm actually talking to different people.
