It's DEFINITELY fine. A lot of OBs won't even see you until you're at least ten weeks along, sometimes twelve weeks. Unless, of course, you are high risk, then they'll want to see you much earlier. But if you are young and healthy, there's no problem waiting. There isn't any testing that needs to be done right away, and there's really nothing they can do for you now except to confirm your pregnancy. Congratulations!
Go to the drugstore and get prenatal vitamins if you haven't been taking them already (it's really the folic acid you need to be concerned with, so make sure each pill has 100% of the RDA).

I totally freaked out when I was told my doctor won't see me until I'm 8-10 weeks along, but apparently that's the norm.
I guess it's the pregnant lady syndrome, that we all want to rush into the doctor and go there every week to make sure everything's OK.
I'm 6 weeks along, and I don't go until 1/15. I went in last week to have all of my hormone levels checked and it's all great.
I heard from others that by waiting this long, I'm going to get a great first baby picture and I should be able to see and hear the heartbeat!!!!

It is absolutely okay if you aren't having any problems. All the first visit is for is to get a bunch of information from you on your medical history and your partner's medical history. And to get your baseline vitals and your weight. Nothing so important that it cannot wait until your are 10-12 weeks along. Just take your prenatal vitamin, you can buy them OTC at Wal-Mart for under $10. I didn't get in to see my OB until I was almost 13 weeks along because I didn't find out I was expecting until I was 8 weeks along and then I had to wait a few more weeks until there was an opening for her to see me. Don't worry, it will be just fine. Congrats and good luck!

Most doctors don't want to see you til after 8 weeks anyway. The receptionist is correct you will be fine. I did not have my first appt til I was 9 weeks. Until then be sure to drink lots of water and eat well. Also you can take a women's vitamin with folic acid til you can get your prenatal prescription. They also make otc prenatal vitamins if you wish. Good luck and congrats

It will be fine. The receptionist is not trying to blow you off. If you are less than 3 months it will be okay. Or if you are nervous find a crisis pregnancy center and they can help you while you wait for insurance to switch over.

Yes, perfectly ok. Many don't even want to see you before you're 8 weeks along anyway. Honestly, I'm not sure why that is, but I know it seems to be the norm with the doctors in my area.

As long as you haven't had problems in the past or you feel funny now. You should be fine. Any questions you might have you could probably just call and ask them. The first few visits are to determine probable due date and overall health.

It should be okay considering that most doctors will not see you until you are either 6, 8, or even up to 12 weeks along in your pregnancy. If you have problems or complications they will see you earlier for emergency situations.
