You did not give us enough information to supply you with an intelligent answer.
We need to know:
1) What is the medicine?
2) What is the state of his health?
If it is a prescription or over-the-counter med, call the pharmacy.
If it is an "alternative medicine" and the illness is not life-threatening, you can usually cut the dose based on a 150 lb. adult. For instance, a cup of mullein tea made with 1 tablespoon of herb is a dose for an adult. If your son weighs 75 lbs., you could safely give him 1/2 cup of the tea.

Ask his pediatrician. Meds go by weight most of the time. My 8 year old, 89 lbs, is allowed to take 2 motrin for his headaches.

Depends on what it is...usually the directions will say 12-adult. How much does he weigh? Call your local pharmacy to be on the safe side.
