NFL Draft Basics
Determining Order of Selection
• The team with the lowest winning percentage at the end of the previous season drafts first in the NFL Draft.
• The rest of the teams are placed in order from lowest winning percentage to the highest.
• The Super Bowl winner drafts last, even if they do not have the highest winning percentage.
• The Super Bowl loser drafts next to last.
• Strength of schedule for the previous season is the first tie-breaker for teams with the same winning percentage.
• Divisional and conference records are the next step in the tie-breaking procedure.
• As a last resort, a coin toss is used to determine the order of selection for teams with the same winning percentage.
• If a playoff and non-playoff team end the season with the same winning percentage, the non-playoff team selects before the playoff team regardless of strength of schedule.

If Detroit and Oakland are tied for the worst record, the strength of schedule for next season will determine who gets the number one pick for the April NFL Draft. If Oakland gets the first pick, look for them to target Heisman winner Troy Smith to rebuild the offense that has been plain sad this season. Aaron Brooks has been a bust this year and Andrew Walters hasn't find his success replacing Brooks, which could lead them to drafting Smith come April if they have the pick. If Detroit get the first pick, look for them to rebuild on defense or Smith if they want an heir to replace Jon Kitna.

Ignore everyone that says Oakland. It's Detroit because they both have the same division record. So that tiebreaker is null and void. It's Detroit because Oakland beat Arizona and Arizona beat Detroit. Therefore, Detroit will be considered the worser team. It's going to be Detroit.

i'm hoping for a Detroit loss and an Oakland win. this delivers Detroit the quantity one %. and delivers Tennessee, who rightfully must be interior the playoffs, of undertaking to make it. Then Detroit fires Millan, we draft Slaton with the quantity one %., and he will become our next Barry Sanders.

The Oakland Raiders definintly needs the 1st , 2nd, and 3rd room pick. They suck, and it doesn't look like they're going to improve anythime soon.
