Why would you let your 8 year old dress goth. You are the parent set some ground rules and boundaries. If she can do this now, are you going to let her drive when she is 10. I can't believe you could even think about that.

Goth is a subculture that grew out of punk about thirty-odd years ago. At eight years old, your daughter has no comprehension of what gothic subculture is - she probably think listening to My Chemical Romance and wearing black nail polish makes you goth. She's probably just following the psuedo-goth crowd at school. I would naturally suggest she start purchasing her own clothes at about thirteen, but if she is dead set (pun intended) on it, Goodgoth.com has some interesting stuff. Actually, most goths (in my experience) get their clothes from specialty shops or online, or go to thrift shops and find pieces they like and customize them, which is not as difficult as it sounds. Very, very few go to 'Hot Topic' or other stores in the mall. If you want to learn more (and in all honesty, you probably should) go to goth.net.

Believe it or not, but Claire's Accessories do gothic accessories, like chains and black earings and jewellery e.t.c. Being an eight year old goth is very rare and to some, it might be very strange, so perhaps you should wait until she's older to go fully goth - if she still likes that idea. Going goth might just be a passing phase for her. Wait for a while to see if she really is interested in being a goth.
For now, try just a few accessories - jewellery, hair clips or chains.

Well if she really wants to be a goth can't you just get her black clothes? Or some Nightmare Before Christmas tops? I'm sorry my experiance with goths is slim, all the ones in my area are pretty tame, you could try searching for gothic jewlery.
In my small experiance there are some shops that seem to sell gothic clothes, 'Shrinking Violet' use to be in Bath, it's closed now but it could be a chain store. And also 'Blue Banana' in Swindon, that could also be part of a chain. It depends entirely where you live I guess, if you live in London there are probably several shops you could go to. Good Luck.

If only more people were as open minded as you the world would be a great place!!

It really depends on what look she is going for, there is more than one "goth" look like EGL, rivet, cyber, romantic, trendy (Hot Topic) etc.... Thrift stores are a good start - you can DIY anything. There are websites like that list several stores. In most cases, you just have to keep you eyes open

see if you can put your foot down and have your daughter wait until she's older to go goth. like maybe 10 yrs old or older. you do still control her wardrobe. i would be concerned with giving her what she wants now -- may only make things worse when she's a teenager.

i was goth in my early 20s when if was first in fashion -- it was a depressing time for me -- i recommend holding off on that as much as possible.

Why should she repress her daughters style? If you think dressing a certain way leads to crackpipes and such, you are on the wrong track there.

As far as the clothes you can actually get alot of things right under your nose you just have to look a bit. You can get black boots with straps, cute leggings with "gothkittie" and stuff on them at wal-mart. You can get some strappy black tops with skull and crossbones at Macy's and I'm sure there are other little treasures around, those are just a few I saw while shopping for my 8 year old. She is not into the same thing completley.. but she really likes the punk style.

3 cheers for letting her choose her style! =)
