It could be something as simple as not enough water... urine will be dark if an animal is not getting enough water, the more water the more clear... but you should ask a vet any time you have a question about the health of a pet... your vet will answer a question on the phone for no cost, and if not, get another vet! If the vet thinks that a visit is needed they will let you know.
Good luck!

One of two things.
Did you recently give the horse vitamin supplements or inject any medication? This can discolure the urine.
Is your water trough clean and free of algea. Often if the water is tepid or has a foul odor, a horse will refrain from drinking. Same goes if the pond is shallow and nasty. This will dehydrate the horse and have very dark urine.
Diet is also another source. You should mix up the horses diet from oats to corn, etc. Any animal on the same diet will develope urinary and gastroinestinal problems. Imagine if all you ate for breakfast lunch and dinner was mac and cheese.
If none of the above applies to you and you haven't had your horse checked by a vet it is good to pay the money to have a vet come and see him. 4 years ago when I had a horse it was $50.00 for the house call and then whatever else was needed.
You should have your horse checked at least once a year.

Are you seeing the urine in the snow after the horse has gone to the bathroom.
If it is in snow or on the ground urine will oxidize when exposed to air and the color will change and look rusty and dark.
Many people notice it when it snows as the ground is so white and the urine looks so dark.
That is normal.
Make sure your horse is drinking plenty of water and if the horse is consuming the normal amount of water and not showing any other signs it is most likely fine.
Dark urine can be a sign of dehydration so be sure you are providing plenty of clean fresh water.

Monitor him, make sure he has plenty of fresh water available and talk to your vet. It could be that it is just dehydration, or something he ate (much like humans taking vitamins, or eating asparagus) but if it continues, I would have your vet out to take a look at him.

For humans, dark urine is a sign of dehydration. Is your horse getting enough water. Check with your vet please!
(and talk about drama "OMG he's going to die" I doubt he's going to die) Good Luck!

Yes. It initially sounds like dehydration, but could be a host of things. Either way, call your vet asap.
Best Wishes!
