It is a concern because they are marginalized by some parts of society. The loss of the family unit as a priority means that lots of old people are viewed as a burden rather than as a source of wisdom and love. There is going to be a big responsibility for paying for their welfare placed upon the young which can only be achieved through greater taxation. However, moving retirement age means that more people may contribute through taxes for longer which could redress the balance. I am thinking out loud so will go away now.

There are some I worry about more than others. I worry about the ones who are alone, who are not well, and who have burdens beyond their capability to handle. I worry about how younger people view the older people as a burden and how they would just as soon have the older people in their lives die than to be inconvenienced by them. I think my own life may come to that sort of end. Too bad because the older people are the ones who gave those younger people a chance in life.

I'm concerned about the ones living by theirself. I've seen alot of really bad living conditions with elderly people, who have nobody to help them.

My concern for them is that many had only one child and they care nothing for their parents and too many homes for seniors have sprung up at a cost to joe tax payer instead of their kids...no wonder people bemuse themselves with thoughts of euthanasia for the elderly.

None of us are getting any younger thats for sure.. Yes we are living longer how i don't know as there are so many new diseases some to which there is no cure.. I am not overly concerned as i would like to think as always they have some member of their family who cares for them. Those who don't can not be left alone they should be cared for with respect

No, but what I am concerned about is the way they are treated with disrespect and not looked after properly, they are the backbone of this nation and have worked for better life's, pity the government can't see that and treat them with more respect.

yes, we can afford to kill them in their 1000's in Iraq, but we can't give them enough money to look after themselves here at home.
