don't bring any baby items into your house when you or your partner is pregnant. (kept all my shower gifts at my sister's until the week the baby was due)

oh, and salt over your left shoulder if you spill...

oh, also, knock on wood...

oh yeah, don't forget don't open an umbrella indoors...

sigh... too many more to list, i'm too superstitious!!

superstitions that we know are superstitions, that we believe we gave as a superstition are not really superstitions

a superstition is something that you abide by as if it is 100% real not knowing it is not real or that it is a superstition

you try telling someone who learlly belives that going under a ladder is bad luck that it is a superstition - they will not believe you

I'm not sure if this is a superstition I can name, but it is written down many different ways. Every time I brag on something or brag about what I plan to do, it backfires on me. Every single time too! I have to just keep it in my mind and keep my mouth shut or I am jinxed! So yes, I believe I can jinx myself by boasting.

I'm pretty sure that if you believe in bad luck, you'll have bad luck. When it gets to extremes, enough people can believe so strongly in bad luck that they start to taint others. That's why I'm the annoying jerk who pretends to like things that others complain about or fear. My own little 'shield o' sunshine!'
Hey, wait, if you think about it, that's kind of like a superstition, isn't it?

The Evil Eye. La shon harah in Hebrew and the O Ho ( both badly mispelled) in Spanish. Basically, it is cursing someone. You can make someone really sick, it has happened to me. I know this sounds silly, but it happens. I try to be very careful with the things I say. This is real! But you can also BLESS people with your words. Your mouth is a two edged sword! Blessings to you all for today and for the New Year.
