Is death really a punishment? Everyone dies some day. So, killing someone for committing a crime or several crimes doesn't seem like a punishment. Really.
I think staying alive and being imprisoned would be worse punishment.

Capital punishment has nothing to do with punishment or deterrence and everything to do with primal vengeance. which seems to be very satisfying to a lot of people.

I know what you mean, being killed is over in such a short time and the person doesn't have to spend the rest of his/her life in prison and option 1 sounds more appealing to me.
But, why should taxpayers, pay to keep a prisoner in jail with 3 meals a day etc.
I believe in capital punishment, but I thing it should be more prolonged (depending on the crime) Torture sounds better. If someone sexually abuses a young child for instance, being killed is over so quickly, they should use medieval torture, the taxpayers don't have to pay for someone that way and they die in pain. Not for all crimes obviously, only for terrible things like rape and murder (amongst others)

Life is precious and the taking of it is the way we serve the victims families or those hurt.. Even if someone lives the remainder of their lives incarcerated they still are living.
It is to deter crime not so much to punish.
I don't know if I support every execution but for those who hurt children or such I have a strong feeling about it.

You are right.
For rapers - same punishment as their crime
For stealing - cutting a hand off - like Muslims do
For cheating - like rapers
For killers - making them stay alive in inhuman conditions - maybe also torture.

Death is the easy way out.

I agree that prison is a worse punishment: it punishes both the criminal and the society upon which that criminal preyed. I would rather put heinous criminals to death than to clothe, feed, and house them for the rest of their lives. One electricity bill please.

I THINK PUTTING THEM ALL ON A ISLAND WAY FAR AWAY AND LET THEM FEND FOR THEMSELVES THAT WAY WE WOULD HAVE EXTRA $$$ TO GIVE OUT TO WHAT REALLY NEEDS TO BE TAKEN CARE OF WOULD BE A BETTER SOLUTION. WERE JUST ADDING TO OUR FINANCIAL RUIN TAKEN CARE OF PEOPLE THAT REALLY DIDN'T GET ALONG IN SOCIETY ANYWAY NOR DID THEY GO BUY THE RULES OF LIFE SO WHY SHOULD WE PAY FOR THERE MEDICAL,FOOD,CLOTHING AND SHELTER WHEN THEY WERE IN THE WRONG.

I agree with you. Killing them releases them from having to go through life in a tiny cell. That's letting them off way too easy.
