Yes, some grades of "stainless" have more ferrous properties than others. This does`nt neccessarily make them inferior. They are typically easier to sharpen, but don`t hold an edge as long as a "higher grade"

Yes and no. It depends on the iron content in the stainless steel. You have many different grades of stainless steel. The stainless steel that is used in high grade cuttlery will not hold a magnet. The stainless steel used in the cheap crap we usually buy for our houses will hold a magnet. Try sticking a magnet to a 304 or better grade of stainless steel. It will not stick.

Stainless steel has a very low iron content, which is what magnets attract to, so magnets tend not to attract to them very well. In fact, a weak magnet on a high grade of stainless will seem not to attract at all.

There are hundreds of different grades of stainless steel.
The best quality has a high chromium content and low iron content, this is non magnetic stainless steel.
Magnetic stainless steel has an high iron content, is magnetic and can even rust!

Sure it does! Try it! I have all my knives on a magnetic holder! Why else would magnetic knife holders work?
