Or against Gore and Kerry? If you voted for Bush, was it because you liked him as a prosepctive candidate, or was it because you hated the alternative?

As a lifelong Republican, I voted for Bush in '00 because I was not a fan of the Clinton legacy and appreciated Bush's focus on domestic issues. However, I am educated enough to understand global political ethics and not rich enough to profit from corporate greed, so there was absolutely no way I could continue supporting him or the radicalized Republican Party he helped usher in. I worked on the effort to defeat him on '04, worked for the Democrats this past year, and will continue to work to defeat the Republican party until they turn away from authoritarian nationalism and imperialism and return to libertarianism and responsible economic policy that requires sacrifice from everyone, and does not reward the wealthy at the expense of the poor and middle classes.

I voted against Gore and Kerry and for Bush in the 2 elections.

Even if one hated Bush in 2004, how could any American citizen have voted for a Presidential candidate who's campaign theme or even campaign promise was "Anything he can do I can do better"?

At least Bush had a platform and publicly stated his positions on almost all issues, moral, economic, and social, while Kerry merely said the opposite of whatever Bush said.

Even Gore with his near Utopian ideals in 2000 was better than Kerry in '04, because he had goals and didn't flip-flop on his political decisions.

The thing about Americans voting is that their decision not only affects their own country but many other countries around the world too. I wonder if you Americans keep that in mind at all when you vote. I'm Canadian but people in here have been affected by Bush's government as have the people of many other nations and I strongly believe it hasn't been to their benefit most of the time.
I would not have voted for Bush either time, had I been American, although Kerry was not much of a better option. I would have actually wanted Gore though.

No, I didn't. I voted for Gore because I liked him. Kerry seemed a better alternative than 4 more years of Bush.

In the case of Bush v Gore, I did like a few things Al Gore had to offer, but then I thought about him being a big part of the Clinton 'regime' and figured it was time for a change.

As for Kerry, that was easy because he clearly could not take a single stand on any one issue and so that indecisiveness made Bush easy to re-elect. Had the Dems nominated someone who made up their mind (and stuck to it), they'd have probably won.

I voted for Bush. In 2000, because I liked his ideas.

I also voted for him in 2004, so he could finish what he started. (And actually I feel that's why a lot of people voted for him in 2006)

I just wish 9/11, the bad information about Iraq and Katrina never happened, since these challenges over shadowed all the good he has done. (I know people think he only did tax cuts for the very rich, but that's not true. He raised the amount you can make before you reached each new tax bracket and he lowered the higher tax bracket from 27% to 25%. The increased amount that you can make before hitting the higher tax bracket does help the middle class and the increased amount you can make before hitting the middle bracket helps the poor families. And almost all Americans hit the 27% tax bracket for one reason or another before this tax code was changed. He also increased the child credit and removed the marriage penalty. Most Americans are ignorant about how their employers figure out their taxes, but it's never to late to learn, so you can understand how new tax laws will effect you in a positive or negative way.)

Edit: I love how the Democrats can't write an honest answer without bashing the Republican party, that's why I gave people thumbs down. Again I tell the complete truth without bashing anybody and I get a thumbs down vote. I hope it was only someone who wanted to make it easier to read the next answer.

i'd have voted for Bush if he replaced into operating antagonistic to Obama, to be straightforward. If it were Joe Biden operating antagonistic to Bush, I probably would have voted for Joe. that's all about concepts. at the same time as the democrats run a pragmatic centrist who has a shred of common sense, i'm prepared to vote for him. in the experience that they run a left-wing loony salesman for the DNC who has no theory what is going on, who he's, or what to do, i will vote for the Republican each and every time.

I did vote for Bush because I hoped his selections for the Supreme Court would be better than Kerry's choices. I did not like Kerry or Gore but ultimately my concerns were judicial nominations.

I voted to re elect Bush in 04 only because it is wrong to change horses in the middle of the race, especially win the horses opponents are watching.

Had Kerry won it would have reaffirmed a chilling truth to the jihadists; terrorism works. Hit them long enough, hard enough and eventually they'll budge.

Victory doesn't belong to the one who believed in it the most, it belongs to the one who believed in it the longest. Re electing Bush was a small way to show the terrorist that Americans still have resolve.
