It's like Akatsuki Artist-un said, he thinks that women are so troublesome and a drag to be around. Ironically however he always ends up fighting women. And the females all represent Shikamaru's mom in way -- loud, obnoxious and mean. That's what Shikamaru thinks of his mom and when he asked his dad why he would marry such a troublesome women his dad tells him he'll find out when he's older - and he does. Shikamaru actually doesn't mind Temari that much anymore.... So Shikamaru always ending up fighting women is kind of joke with some symbolic meaning in it. He thinks women are a bother and he end's up fighting them -- and all the women he fights are aggressive and loud-mouthed [just like his mom]. I find it funny when he faces women -- he's always forced to move more and actually fight because he can't "lose to a woman"... =]
