GHz, is giga hertz. Hertz is a reference to cylces per second. Giga means 1 x 10^9 So if you processor runs at 2.4 GHz, you computer can do roughly 2,400,000,000 cycles per second.

Anyway, the higher, the better

GB stands for Giga Byte. A Byte is an 8 bit piece of data (that means it is a piece of data that contains 8 binary numbers, 0 or 1). Everything is binary and bytes to a computer. KB stands for Kilo Byte and it is 1024 bytes, or 1000 bytes to be easy. MB stands for mega byte, which is 1024 KB or 1000 KB to keep it easy. So 1 MB is 1,000,000 bytes. A giga byte is 1024 MB, or 1000 MB to keep it simple. So 1 GB is 1,000,000,000 bytes.

Anyway, for processor speeds, anything above 2 GHz is pretty good. If it is dual core, anything above 1.8 GHz is great. For RAM (Random Access Memory, it is what your computer temporarily stores information on), 1 GB is usually plenty. Hard drive space can vary. If you plan on doing any picture or movie editing, get a larger hard drive, say 200 + GB. If you just plan on surfing the net or something like that, get around 80GB. It never hurts to have more hard drive then you think you will use.

Hope that helps

GHz is referring the the speed of the processor inside the computer. The higher the number the better. If you're looking at laptops 1.7 GHz is a minimum and may be a bit slow.
MB generally refers to the amount of RAM a computer has, but GB can also be seen here. In short the more of this the faster and more applications you can run. 512 MB would be the lowest you should consider and most computers now should have 1 or 2 GB of RAM.
Also GB is used when talking of the amount of hard drive space. (the amount of space you have for your programs and files) Again larger is better here and many systems will have an 80 GB hard drive, which isn't bad. 120 or 180 GB is a lot better though.

Doesn't only apply to the wonderful world of Gateway's but.

GHz, measure of cycles per second. 1GHz = 1 Billion cycles per second.
MB/GB, megaByte and GigaByte are units of measuring data on your computer. Lowest measurement is 1 bit, 8 bits= 1 byte, 1024 bytes = 1 Kilobyte, 1024 Kilobytes = 1 MegaByte, 1024 MegaBytes = 1 GigaByte, 1024 Gigabytes = 1 TeraByte...

GHZ = processor speed, u want 2+
MB = storage in mega bites
GB = storage in Gigabites,

for ur Hard Disk Drive, u want over 80GB currently. Speed go for Minimim 2.4 GHZ Ram u want minimum 1GB
