I have 2 computers(one of them connected via the modem) and I am going to buy a wireless router.
Do I have to buy anything else to use the internet on the second pc?
Thanks

You have to buy a wireless card to install into the computer you plan on connecting the wireless router to, er, wirelessly. Make sure when buying your card that it is compatible with your PC, as well as use the same wireless type and strength as your router.

Most router companies, such as NetGear or Linksys, sell their router and card sets with easily identified markers telling you they are of the same type, and easily compatible with each other. If anything else, simply ask an employee of whatever store your buying them from for assistance.

EDIT, for network cable: If the computer is close enough that you can reach it with a simple network cable, then you save yourself the hassle of having to buy a wireless card and just use one of those. Plus, you can save some money by not having to buy a wireless router, and only having to get a cheap, wired-only version.

Most of all routers have wired ports to support 10/100/1000baseT NIC's. Your gonna plug your modem into the WAN port on your router, the wired ethernet port connects to port 1 and as long as your other PC has a wireless card you can connect wirelessly with that on top..

You will need to get a pci adapter to go in your second computer. For instance I just purchased a router for my pc which was a linksys broadband wireless router to hook up to my main pc and was told by tech support I would need the pci adapter to go in my second computer.Any electronics store or Wal-Mart will have them.

If you intend to use both computers wireless then you need a wireless adapter for both computers. The exception would be if one is a laptop that already has a wireless adapter built in.

I have a Linksys and their tech support is really good. Good Luck
