I notice a lot of success stories, positive anecdotes, etc, here, but haven't run into _anything_ negative.

Just curious. Any stories?

Not me! I absolutely loved them. I hv 2 boys. I can't say that I can compare them with an OB cuz I've never seen one. From my knowledge the difference is that they believe in not bn so intrusive, meaning not so many internals for one thing. They seem to b much more there for the mom and mine, at least, always seem to genuinely want to know about what I was feeling n thinking. Again, in my case, the midwives absolutely left to me the decision on whether to hv pain relief or not. They did not try to convince me either way. Another thing I noticed was that they never seemed to rush me thru the appointment. I highly recommend them.

I wish u luck!

I have never used a midwife, b/c i am considered high risk. However, it all depends on oyur level of pain tolerance, and what you are comfortable with. I have a friend who had two deliveries with a mid wife, Home births and both times it was great for her. The only thing i would think about is the fact that with a mid wife no medicines will be used, its all a ntarual process. now the only other option you have is to know if you want to home birth or if you want a birth center. birth center is in the hospital but God forbid something happen you have the technology there. Good Luck

Not me, but my cousin´s wife delivered her son via a midwife and she squeezed his head too hard with the forceps and he has a permanent dent in his head. I don´t know why anyone would want to tempt fate with a midwife who isn´t a licensed physician. What if something goes wrong?

i did not have a detrimental experience with my birthing middle. as a count number of truth i'm so searching ahead to my next shipping there, in April. yet, beforehand i stumbled on my mid-spouse and birthing middle - I went to an section that had mid-better halves that artwork alongside with medical doctors (aka Med-better halves). i did not have an excellent experience there. They instructed me that i'd provide in a medical institution room, set up like a "middle" - besides the indisputable fact that the basically element massive difference from the medical institution replaced into the tub. and they instructed me I had a three in 7 probability of tangible be extra with the help of a mid-spouse, it relied on who replaced into operating when I went in to provide. Then all the mid-better halves linked with the practice supply up or were given fired (who knows - no one would tell me) yet i replaced into instructed now to not be stricken a clean mid-spouse should be operating with them with the help of the time I extra. I went to a actual birthing middle and they mothered me - it replaced into stunning! So my suggestion will be to bypass to an extremely middle, and beware of med-better halves!

I certainly havent had a single problem with them. But i can list off a book worth of negative horrible experiences i've had with OB/GYN's and other doctors.

I'll stick with my midwives.
