I know this is dumb but. . .I have taken 2 hpt and they came out positive. Thing is at first I really wanted a child but my fiance seems to want to travel and leave kids at home. I'm going next week to get a blood test it is already scheduled. I have heard that in some cases you want it so bad your body convinces itself you are pregnant and produces the hormone, is that true. I know I have to get the blood test so I know I have to see the doctor duh. I just want to know if you can make yourself believe you are and produce that hormone. I havent had any signs other than I missed my period. But if I ever stress I miss my period as well

Hi there.
While it may happen on television shows, in all the years that I have been doing pregnancy counseling, and in all the years that I have been talking to women while raising my 5 children, I have never seen a case of it.
In other words, it must be darned rare.
The more important question is what are you going to do about the baby now that the other baby in your life has changed his mind and wants to travel? (and of course no one has ever traveled with a baby before....)
I sincerely hope that you are not contemplating ending your baby's life just because this guy has got itchy feet. That should not in any way change your feelings about having your baby. It is your body that the baby is in, NOT his! Whether or not he thinks it is convenient right now, the baby is still here.
Please don't let his wanderlust cause you to make a decision you will regret all your life.
I have never heard of a positive urine test being wrong. NEVER....not ONE single time. If the blood test is positive are you still going to say it is wrong? You know there is nothing to stop you from traveling while you are pregnant either. 9 months is a long time to travel and you could have a lot of fun before the baby comes. And seriously, if you are nursing, "have diapers, will travel". All the baby needs is you and a pamper and you are all set! You can travel light. Anything is possible. This could be the best little traveling buddy you ever had. And who knows, your fiance might change his mind and become a homebody!
Anything is possible.
Take care and good luck
Lady T~

Hi! I've heard this is possible, but it's also a very rare condition! If you have a positive HPT and your period is missing, I'd say you're pregnant !! Just enjoy it and don't worry about anything else. This is a wonderful moment of your life and I'm sure once you get the blood test done, you'll see that everything is fine!

Come on you guys, google it for cripes sake! It would be a false pregnancy, or a phantom pregnancy. You cant just spontaniously produce the HCG hormones, those are directly dependant on the growing fetus to be produced.

You can however make yourself have all the symptoms of pregnancy, even a swelling abdomin and lactating, etc etc.

Face it cookie, you're carrying a baby. You're fiance if just going to have to learn how to be a daddy, and not a free agent unto himself and his desires.

YES, that is possible. I cannot remember want it is called but it is pyschological. There is a very good episode of CSI Las Vegas about this. It IS real, and can really happen to someone.

If it's possible, it's EXTREMELY rare. HcG, the pregnancy "hormone," is produced only by the placenta. No placenta, no hormone. Good luck!
