I know we are not all perfect. I mean the SOME of the worst people wear them. As if it was going to keep them out of hell or something...

I agree. The perpetually saved, God is my scapegoat types annoy me to no end. I'm not religious but I fully respect people's beliefs - except in those cases.

First of all, since when is lying a "normal" sin?
Second, we all sin daily. We just can't help it. We're human, and as long as we ask for repentance we're ok in God's eyes. But I see what you mean.
It's because of the sad, sad fact that crosses are "in" in popular culture. People will wear them even if they're not religious or even Christian, just because they look good. And that's wrong. The cross is a holy symbol.

Well, I'm Baptist, I know for a fact I'm not perfect! Everybody sins, and most Christians... like those denominations you're talking about "they think they do no wrong" actually believe that they are saved and if they do wrong they can lose their salvation in Jesus and go to Hell if they don't repent... Whereas.... me- I believe that once you're saved, you're always saved.. There's a verse in the bible, I can't remember where.. it says something like "you will never be plucked out of my hands,no matter what" or something to that effect.... But I know what you mean by those "religious" people who think they're perfect.. but that's a dead lie, because NOBODY is perfect.... â¥

Well, I'd venture that all of us sin daily, albeit small or inconspicious sins.
As for how other people act, or how they pretend to act, only God knows what's in their hearts, whether it's good or bad, and since we don't have that knowledge, we shouldn't judge others as if we do.
Just make sure you are practicing what you preach, or others may say the same about you.
Wearing the cross reminds people of how they should be acting and whom they should be acting for.

Fist - wearing a cross around the neck is just a think of culture and symbolism. If you believe in God, you must not wear a cross, or go to church or any of the "imposed" things. You can believe in God and see him in the neighbor, in your best friend, or in the beggar on the street.
Second - they wear it because they think they are better seen in society if they wear it outside their clothes. What they don't realize is that people judge by what you do and say, but not by the cross or clothes you wear.

I think it goes along the same lines as lovers who show an elaborate display of affection in public; they're basically trying to overcompensate.
Give the people a good show, and they'll never know the truth — or so they'd like to believe, eh?

That is a very good question. I wear and Egyptian cross around my neck all the time but it is for protection. I do not know why people do that though.

The cross represents the fact that someone died for our sins, but I think alot of people wear it as a fashion statement.

They are trying to make a statement, like people in Hollywood do. Or maybe they think people whom don't know them will believe that they are all Christian like by seeing that cross and not check up on them.
