how tight should my electric guitars 1E string be? i'm frightened of snapping it.....?

it's only new you see and i don't have any spares

aprox....the only reason i am asking yous this question is because I am tuning and I'm only new to the whole thing....

Good grief. Tighten it until it is tuned to an "E". There is no too tight or too loose. It has to be just right to make an "E". Get a tuner if you don't already have one. Some allow you to set the string (ie: 1st , 2nd, 3rd etc.) on it and it will tell you when it's right. Go to your local guitar store and buy one and have them show you how to use it.

It should be pretty tight.... as long as you've got the right thickness for the 1E then it should be fine tho. That string is the most common one to break tho so you should expect a break from time to time. Buy some good quality spares and make sure you carry them round with you when you're out with your guitar.

guitar strings should not be so tight that they can't be bent of course, and most of the time it is up to personal preference on how you want the strings to sit. if you can keep it in tune and make it a little less taut (which means you'll probably have to take it out and re-string it) maybe you'll have less of a chance of snapping it.

It should be about 15lbs. How can anyone tell you how tight it has to be? Tune it.

Tighten it so that it is not to tight and not too loose.

not that tight cause it could snap and hit u rly hard thats wat i haye bout guitars they are rly tight and could hit ur eyes out
