I was always told it was bad luck to leave them up after Jan 6th, and you have to take them down before then... If last year was terrible for you then it must mean that this year will be wonderful! Have a happy new year!

Nonsense about the luck thing but ur spirit died early and therefore u brought upon urself a slump for the rest of the coming year and blamed it on the early loss of Christmas spirit but if u believe in luck instead of blessings then go on with ur foolish ways. Personally I keep everything up through Jan. 6th because that's 12th day of Christmas and 3 Kings Day then on the 7th it all comes down.

I have never heard of that one, but now you got me thinking!!!! Truth is I am too lazy and spent after christmas to take em down before then, besides it takes so long to get them up I like looking at them for a bit longer.
Keep in mind, I don't walk on cracks, knock on wood all the time, throow the salt over my shouldar, you name it I believe it, a little paranoid!!!!!!! I say leave em up....and better luck next year!!!!

as long as they are down in the previous the 6th Jan this is positive, mine got here down the day previous to this. Auld Time Folklore skill that timber ought to in straightforward terms be up for 12 days in total as traditionally you're able to have Holly on the tree and as pixies stay in Holly (in folklore) they do unlike being indoors for too long and after 12 days indoors they grow to be impatient and start to reason worry, for this reason the undesirable good fortune. do no longer you basically love a good little bit of folklore?

It can't be bad luck...all the people I know who are big on etiquette take them down Jan 1st or 2nd. All those people seem to have pretty normal luck. The don't want to be caught dead having their decorations up "too long."
I'm a Christian so anytime someone tells me I've done something "unlucky" I just remind myself that I have Jesus and then I feel safe and confident. When you have Jesus all superstitions, curses, and bad luck are null and void.

Do you mean your Christmas decorations, or the Happy New Year banner? My Christmas ones are down before New Years eve. And whoever wakes up first takes down the New Years one when the party clean up starts..which is usually before the 6th.

I get in the xmas spirit early and decorate the weekend of Thanksgiving. I've done this for 17 years. The week after xmas, I am so disgusted looking at the decorations! lol I end up taking them done. I have always had a blessed new year.
Happy New year!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont believe in superstitions. I open my umbrella indoors in front of friends to show there is no superstition.
I dont think it is bad luck if you take your decorations down now or in 6 months (however some may find it a joke if you have them on in June).

Bad luck is peoples own making. I have never been superstitious, my decorations always come down either on new years day or the day after.
Be more positive in your out look on life.
