It can take anywhere from a few months to a year or more to regain fertility after discontinuing the depoprovera shot.

First off the depo shot is very vad. I was on it for 10 years a long time ago. The side effects are nasty. I gained 100 lbs over the 10 years, no sex drive, very biotchy, mood swings, and alot of bad headaches. Back then doctors were not aware of all of these side effects or I would never had gotten onto it. If you read other posts about the depo shot you will see my answer matches the rest of them.
As for your question about getting pregnant after it...yes you can. I was able to get pregnant within a few months of the depo shot and like I said I was on it for 10 years.

According to info I've read on Depo, it can take up to a year to conceive after getting off the shot. If you think you'd want to get pregnant soon after stopping your form of birth control, it may not be for you. I have no desire to become pregnant, so have been on the depo for many years.
"In medical studies, only 68 percent of women became pregnant within 12 months after stopping Depo-Provera. However, within 18 months, 93 percent had become pregnant. If you think you will want to get pregnant shortly after you stop using birth control, Depo-Provera may not be the ideal method for you. The amount of time you use Depo-Provera does not affect the delay in becoming pregnant when you stop."

From my understanding, unlike the pill, with Depo, it does take longer to become pregnant after you stop using it. I believe it can take 3 months to a year. However, there could have been improvements in Depo since I last researched it. Talk to your health care provider or search on reputable medical sites.

It will take about 6 months for your body to readjust back to normal after taking the depo provera shots for birth control. You will have no problem getting pregnant. But please wait until you are older. Being in a relationship and being in love is not enough to love, raise and support a child for life.

Please rethink the depo shot.
I was on it for FOUR years and it royally screwed my body up.
I gained weight, I was a witch two weeks before my next shot was due, I spotted at inoppurtune times.
After FIVE years you need a bone density check, that's how much depo screws up your system.

Some people get pregnant while on depo. Some, after getting OFF of depo, have a hard time conceiving and actually have to go to a fertility doctor. PLEASE reconsider the depo shot!

was on it for a year after my son was born and have only gotten pregnant 1 time in 6 years and that didn't end with a baby. my periods have never went back to normal and a nurse told me that it's not uncommon after taking the shot. i would suggest finding a different birth control method.

Try something natural. check out www.Mangoinfo.com or www.MangosteenExperiences.com , they talk about the hormone imbalance and how this healthy juice can help regain your health.
For the science validity of this go to www.PubMed.gov , enter the words xanthones (found in this fruit) or mangosteen and you will find lots of information.
good luck,
