A vintage bottle of champagne or vintage wine if their r that nice. Or a cheese ball platter with assorted crackers around the ball, or a deli-meat platter with cheeses, or call and ask them how u could help ease their load for New Years party if u know them well enough.

for new years eve, an appropriate gift is an inexpensive bottle of champ, to be shared at 12. or if you choose, a gift for the hostess to keep for herself would be a nicer bottle of table wine for her to share at another time with someone special. then again , you could always go the route of packaging up the ingriedients for a favorite hangover cure.

A bottle of wine is always nice. Or some other edible goodie that can be shared at the party.

A nice bottle of wine, otherwise a DVD for her to watch the day after while she's recovering from the mess in her home.

Wine, a plant or flowers, party favors. I had never thought of fireworks but I really like that idea.

The Scottish tradition is to take whisky (so they never go thirsty during the year), cake (so they never go hungry during the year) and a piece of coal (so they are never cold during the year)
