Have you noticed how every time a Black person asks a question on this website they get a thumbs down?? The fact of the matter is that the truth hurts these people which is why they do this. They honestly cannot be reasoned with so I would not even bother trying. The white man cannot accept criticism and will try to turn it around as if you are at fault.. it has been well documented... don't waste your time asking as only people with a moral compass will ever answer your question correctly!

They way it was taught back in the day is not the way we speak today. English was brought over from England...(Brittan being one of the successful conquering countries so to speak). They do not speak it the way U.S. Citizens speak it. Heck, there are many dialects of English all over the US... compare someone from the Bronx to someone from the south or New York to a mid-western person... you find differences within the same state. Different economic levels also may speak differently. Groups tend to develop their own slang. That is a reality of all languages.
I'm a little taken back by lumping everyone together... People have arrived and continue to arrive to the US from different periods, times and such. The immigrants who earned their countries lottery chance to be here tend to work very hard.
Think about it, examine the real history and think some more.
Best of luck.

I am so sick and tierd of the black white issue, let it go already. I am from the deep south and I hear this crap everyday of my life. " You owe us, because we were slaves" , PLEASE !!! Blacks ( NOT ALL BLACKS, JUST THE IGNORANT ONES) , use racism for an excuse for everything. I am not saying that all whites have let it go , but there are some of us that have and we have that thrown in our faces. I never owned a slave and to my knowledge neither did my family, It is not the fact that the whites need to let it go , but the BLACKS DO !! DANG!!! You never hear the hispanics saying , the blacks or the whites , it is always the blacks crying about crap. WHewww now I feel better. But my answer to your question is, IF you feel that you didn't get a good english education form " the whites" , get hooked on phonics with a " BLACK" teacher.

Not all black people speak badly by the way.
You can teach somebody something but if they fail to comprehend it some responsibility must be placed on the student. Stop acting like a victim.

I believe the phenomenon you are describing was the result of the black slaves' inability to comprehend the English that was taught to them. They misheard many words, in turn creating their own "version" of English that was and is spoken and understood only by those who were taught to speak it. Where I live, it's called "Gullah"...

Well Aaron. It doesn't really matter who teaches you something. it's all in how you apply it. I could teach you perfect english but that doesn't mean you'll use perfect english. You might have been sleeping in class or skipping or passing notes to your homies.

you are right - we did teach you english. when you are in front of a bunch of white people you speak it clearly - when you are around your own race you change it and speak slang. you are capable of it.
