It depends on your car. Some are already set up so you can connect your iPod directly to the sound system. If this is the case, congratulations! You'll be able to have crystal clear sound. The next best solution is to get a device that connects to your iPod and inserts into a cassette tape deck. This still has fairly clear sound. If you do not have a tape deck, your only option is to use a transmitter. They work by setting the device to a particular FM station, and setting your radio to the same station. The music is transmitted on that frequency and plays through your speakers. The station you use must not have anything else transmitting on that frequency, so you need one that is just static. Some transmitters have preset stations, so you only have a few choices. If you don't have a clear station (especially true if you live in a metropolitan area), this won't work for you. Even if you have a free station, the sound quality isn't that good. There's a constant hum underneath the music, and the static sometimes comes through. I bought one and hate it.

You can check the website below to find out the best choice based on your car.

A few ways to do this, easiest is to buy an FM transmitter, I have the one by Griffin that plugs into the cigarette lighter so it chargers and has a much stronger signal than the other transmitters. Also with this you can have a iPod case and not have to remove it to put the transmitter on like in some other cases.

Another option is to have a head phone to RCA converter wire and have a audio tech connect that to your radio if you do not know how.

Most expensive option, buy a radio that has iPod support and the hookups with be with that, but that is like $100s vs $30.00 for the FM trans.

You can buy an FM transmitter that will let you play it through your car speakers, using one of the FM stations. or you can check densionusa.com and see if they have anything that will let you connect the ipod to your car and use the car speakers as a seperate mode of operation. That will allow you to access the playlists through your car radio.
