ask you lots of questions and perhaps do an internal exam

If it's just the "confirmation" appt for the doctor, it will just be a urine test (sometimes blood test, some questions on LMP(for your due date), recommendations for vitamins and weight gain. If it's your first prenatal appointment......Okay, weight, blood pressure and you will have a full pap smear, blood tests (including HIV tests in most clinics which is routine for at least 99% of clinics no matter race, creed or status so you know). You will also have to do a urine test (pee in a cup, and get used to it, it's EVERY time you go!). My doctor also did a breast exam. You'll answer a TON of questions about family history. Then kind of a Q & A segment for you to ask anything you need to.

Congratulations!!!! Your first appointment will be very exciting and memorable, beleive me. First of all you'll most likeley encounter a wonderful nurse who will take you vital signs, weight. and draw blood . You will then meet with the Doctor who will do an internal exam to help him determine how far along you are in your pregnancy and to make certain that everything is going well. He will then ask you when you had your last menses and calculate when the "little bundle of joy" will arrive. Relax and enjoy your first appointment which will be very informative and exciting. I wish you the Best of Luck and a wonderful pregnancy!

They should be doing a female exm, a pap smear if you are just about due, do some blood tests, do a pee test, fill out a whole lot of paperwork, and then talk about the roll of coming to the office so often. At least that has been my experience for the past few pregnancies. Good luck!

Well, It depends on how far along you think you are. My first one I was 6 weeks, they gave me an ultrasound and I got to see "it" then they give you a vaginal exam! Good Luck with your Beautiful baby!! Look foward to the Doctor APPT. Every month!

They will take your weight, have you pee in a cup, probably do a pap smear and a pelvic exam, (those do not hurt, takes about 10 minutes.) ask you when your last period was, calculate your due date, ask you if you have any questions, and then probably take an OB panel of blood, or send you to the lab to have it drawn.

its not a very exciting visit. It'll be more fun at around 12-13 weeks when they start checking the heart beat every time.

Pee in a cup to test your HCG level. Ask you questions about your health and your health back ground. Weight and blood pressure! She will prob stick her fingers up there to feel the uterus and see if its at the right size! Than she will give you a script for vitamins and tell you to make another appointment for 4weeks away! Have fun and good luck! (If you haven't had a paps in a year she will have you schedule one of those too)

Don't worry too much! They are just going to run some basic tests to make sure everything is okay. Perhaps an ultrasound and a physical exam.

Lots of paperwork. They may or may not do blood work or an exam this first time, depends on the practice and how far along you are.
