...Is there only ONE true SOULMATE, the one you choose to spend your lifetime with?

There's several people we come across throughout our lifetime that we can instantly connect with and have a special bond, where you've felt you've known them your entire life. What do we consider these people? Just friends, or more than that in the broader scheme of things?

For the record, in my experiences, the people who I've come across and felt a 'connection' with, I didn't neccessarily have sexual feelings for. I think it's possible to have bonds like that without sex getting in the way. It can be with someone of the same sex, even. IMO.

I think that there is quite a few kindred spirits, but there is only one soul mate.

We would most likely meet kindred spirits as we grow old but only a few can say they've met their soulmate. The increasing rate of divorce is enough proof of that. lt's a sad reality.
To answer your question, yes l believe in kindred spirits and soulmates. My husband thinks we are.

I think it's possible to find kindred spirits on different levels with different people. That's why I don't think that a person's 'true' soul mate is necessarily the one they end up spending their life with. I consider a kindred spirit to be someone who immediately intrigues me and can hold my attention on topics I love, rather than someone I can have 'small talk' with. I don't particularly care for small talk anyway; I'd rather have deep conversation. I seem to be drawn to people who think just a little differently than the mainstream, and I love that. That's a kindred spirit, to me.

You may meet several people who you have a bond with because you have probably met them before in a former life, but you will only ever have one soul mate. Hopefully you will find him/her, but sometimes you won't, you may have to go through another life to find them.

Your soul mate completes you. We are like two halves, one is here now and the other has to be found. That's why we call our partners our other halves, when you find the other half, you are complete.

I hope you find yours. I'm still searching for mine.

I think you can bond with many people. I don't believe you have to have 1 soulmate in a lifetime...it just works out that way sometimes.

My husband always says he believes we are soul mates but I can't understand that at all. There were too many slight changes in details that could have made us miss each other completely. He says we would have met somewhere somehow anyway. I guess I'm not romantic, but I'm glad my husband is.

I think we can meet multiple kindred spirits and soulmates throughout our lives, not just one.

Given the number of people who insist that every casual bonk they have is their soulmate ...

Let's face it. Humans don't even have souls. The concept is flawed.

I don't believe in "destiny," if that's what you're asking.
I believe that real connections between people are built, not preordained, and that the notion of "destiny" debases that.
