Haha, you answer your own question, my friend. None of us can be what you call "truly free" because we do "step on each other's toes."
If any of us were to have 100% freedom, everyone else would have none. Our limitations lie in how our "freedoms" affect others. To try and answer that question and completely disregard the boundaries BETWEEN us would be ineffective and misrepresentative.
If you want to say that government restricts our freedoms, as some have, than think of why. In a sense, it is the agent through which those restrictions are implemented (since nobody has enough empathy to implement it him/herself). There are laws against murder, tax evasion, bad driving, rape, stealing, etc. BECAUSE if our freedoms aren't limited, we will start "stepping on each other's toes."
Sure, our government isn't perfect (anything but), but that's what governments were created to do. In in many ways, our is accomplishing that. And, yes, we need to be wary of government restricting our freedoms more than is necessary (think 1984, Brave New World).
No, we're not truly free in action, but then again, we are free to THINK whatever the hell we want. ;P

i also have that question for a long time....you know what they say? yes, we are free but our freedom has limitations...WHAT? freedom but with limitations? that's not freedom! right? but....but....well, i think they have a point...yes, we are free....we are free to do the things we want to do, we are free to eat, to sleep --- we're free to do anything....just that we have to take the consequences of our actions......"you are free to punch anyone but don't blame others if you go to jail!"----that's life! yes, we are free but we have to learn our limitations....we have to learn to abide the rules in our country or in the world because it's only in respecting these rules and our fellow human being and any inhabitants in these world can the race of every being in these world survive.....so, in short there's really no total freedom because if there is "'can you imagine what the world would be like?" when there are no laws controlling our actions....our freedom....and that is not something we should be angry of, that is something we should be happy about because these laws/regulations protect our FREEDOM TO LIVE and i think this is enough to say that we are truly free ------ there's nothing more precious than the chance to live in this world

No. We must observe the laws set forth in order to remain in a civil society. We have freedom of speech, but only to a degree in which it is not harmful nor destructive in nature. Most of our behaviour and attitudes are govern by Laws or facilities that we work in. We are free to practise our religions, or ethnically backgrounds, and voice our likes and dislikes. We have freedom of choice in which we purchase. We have freedom to read that which interest us.

that is a good question but my answer in that prospective is no because let's say we r young and well no freedom under our parent's roof.As an adult well obviously the law keeps us from doing EVERYTHING we want.So no in a sense freedom maybe in our hearts but in reality we r a slave to rules and laws. Also thank u for bringing this up it is a subject that always makes me think about how free we really are. Thanks and good question to begin with^^

Great question!
Answer is.... No... not absolutely free.
We are governed by the laws of the nature which place both physical and physiological limitations.
We are social beings which makes us bound by our own social and interpersonal norms.
We have emotional links with the near and dear people which bind us so strongly that even our logic faculty gets quite biased.
Subject to these boundary parameters mentioned above, yes we are reasonably free!!

No we are never going to be really free as long as we have a government and a propaganda machine and that is going to be forever. So we probably ought to give up on it. We can be as free as we can be. We are bought and sold to the highest bidder we are a form of human capitol. Our worth is dependent on what someone else says it is.

We are more and less free depending on where we are born. Humanity has the potential to be completely free, but other people drag us down for control and for a stable government.
