It crosses the line when:
1. You change your routine and priorities to accommodate your appetite for sex.
2. You engage in risky practices with strangers for sex
3. You aren't able to sustain an intimate, emotional relationship with one person because of your preoccupation with sex
4. When it interferes with all aspects of your life

It becomes an addiction when you no longer can be satisfied with reality. When life stops for sex. Fantasy I think is the real enemy here. Videos, magazines to the extent you look for this in real life and you can not find it. You try it and realize it isn't real. You try it again thinking it might be just this girl. Maybe she isn't the right one. Some people go so far as using drugs or alcohol to reach their goals. One of my girlfriends was reading about this and I have never forgotten this thought. It may only be a small part of the problem but I think it is an important part.

I read a study that said the statistics of sexual thoughts of a man was really high. Try googling the topic and see if you fall in that range. I think to be classified as an addict you must be acting out sexually, actually getting sexually gratified. Masturbating alot? I am a female but I went through a stage in my 20's that I could swear I thought of sex 90% of my day. Now it is the last thing on my mind. Seriously try to find the statistics and you may find that you are not so abnormal.

Sex is vary important in regards to a healthy relationship with your partner/partners. And for your personal happiness if you are a sexual/passionate person. There is nothing wrong with knowing what you and your partner/s like or experimentation - which keeps things lively and new.
However, one can tell if he/she has "crossed the line" form - (healthy) - to - (dysfunctional) - by asking himself/herself thees kinds of questions: Does it (sex) interfere with the natural course of my life?; Am I only interested in my partner/s because of sex or would I be interested anyway?; Do I find myself deceiving or getting caught up in drama over my need for sex?; If I had to go a month without any form of sex for some reason would I be OK, or would that be a problem?; and, can I enjoy some company with the opposite sex without thinking of sex?
Love making is something we use to express are intimacy with another - we do not make people are toys.
There are many perfectly healthy things we use for pleasure that become harmful when used habitually.
Watermelon is good! But if I eat it until I Puke or become obese, or force myself to vomit so I can eat all the watermelon I want without becoming obese. Than I obviously have taken something good and perverted it.
I hope this has been of some help to you. If you want to contact me for any reason fell free. I welcome the comments/questions/criticisms. Jonny
