Two days ago, I fell on the stairs and hit my tail bone. Now it hurts to sit, lay or move. Do you think its broken, fractured or just bruised?

my dear it is definitely broken! i was amazed n had to answer your question. i did the same thing 3 weeks ago. i was coming down the stairs in my home to get the baby n i fell. it definitely hurt when you sit and apply pressure, walk or even to put ur pants on. i went to the hospital n they took x-rays n mine was broken in 3 places but ther is really nothing they can do they dont give u a cast or nething they just give u pain meds and you have to go to the surgical supply store to buy something called a donut to take the pressure off of ya rump n just wait for it to heal. hope you feel better n try not to stay on your feet too long cuz it will start to ache..best wishes

I have answered to this before. First, broken and fractured are the same thing. It could be broken, dislocated, or bruised. In any case, they generally don't do much for the healing process.

You could have an x-ray but expect the doctor to do a rectal exam to feel it. Best advice for the moment is to get a blow up donut to sit on. It will be particularly painful when you stand up, etc. - changes in positions.

If the pain does not improve, they will tell you that the only thing they can do is surgical so best to wait it out.

It could be a contusion. Something like that happened to me exactly a year ago and a contusion was the diagnosis. Anyway, you should go to your orthopedist's office schedule an appointment and get it checked out. You''ll probably get an X-Ray at the orthopedist's.

An x-ray would tell you, but no treatment is required anyway.
