Up until very recently the Marvel Superhero movies were produced by different production companies.
For example: The Spider-Man Movies were Sony pictures and Daredevil was a 20th Century Fox movie.
Because of that, different companies owned the movie rights to different characters. Therefore, even though Marvel owned both characters Spider-Man and Daredevil could not be in the same movie unless Sony and Fox both agreed.
However, now Marvel has started it's own production company. Marvel Entertainment will now be producing most if not all upcoming Marvel movies. What this means is that we may be able to see some team ups in movies like we see in the comics.
All of us Fan Boys can not wait to see movies with multiple Marvel characters. It may never happen, but at least now it is more possible.

They share the same universe, but if they go for continuity, it's mainly through offhand references... rarely by a cameo.
For instance...
In Spider Man when Peter is in the wrestling ring, he remarks : "Hey, I'm not the Thing".
During the first Goblin fight at the parade, Daredevil runs across the screen at one point.

Every movie I have seen with Marvel's heroes has taken place on earth.
John Blaze's citizenship is in the USA
Peter Parker's is the USA
I could elaborate, but check it out for yourself...

often wondered that. Manhatten must be teeming with them. Very select bunch though, and polite, cos they always take it in turns to sought trouble out. Maybe there's a rota!
