i don't think there should be a problem, especially in big cities in europian part. We have black people too, who come from africa, and usa too. But in others far regions there can be a "wow" from people who never saw black in their life. So i think you should not be afraid!
good luck

There is a risk involved anywhere you travel and Russia certainly is no exception. I am black and have traveled to Russia twice without any incidents to speak of. Yes, people will stare because you look different and you should avoid drunks as best you can. In my experience, many Russians were eager to speak to me and some drunkards thought it was appropriate to yell out things towards me- but I never felt my safety was at risk. It is invaluable to have some basic understanding of the language, or travel with a native speaker, group or tour guide. My experience there was amazing and I would encourage anyone interested in Russia to travel there and see it for themselves. Just remember to exercise the same caution there you would in any big city or foreign environment.

Russia is a very large and diverse country you should be fine. there is part you may want to be care full but there is in every city and country in the world on the hole no its not that dangerous Russians *** a people are the same as the rest of us there will be some intolerant racist people but on the hole they will be kind and friendly especially if your black there isn't many blacks in Russia alot of people maybe quit interested to meet you. you would probably be treated similar to blond haired people are in Asia there is a lot of fascination with them as they are not common there.

guys, we cannot be racists, coz in russia live more than 100 different nationalities, we were, are and will stay national friendly. yes, lately there were some accidents with foreigner students in st.peterburg and moscow and there r some 'radical organizations', it s annoyed, but it's a group of ppl (who r lead by someone interested in that) and not the whole country.
So, i can promise that ppl will goggle on u, coz it's unusual to meet a black person (especially here in siberia). i saw 2 black guys at my university, and i become interested in them and i would like to speak with them, but dont know how to approach and talk to them ;") we have here even a 'black star'- one black guy who has his broadcast on tv ;)

Russians are very racist and getting worse, sadly. Anyone who doesn't look northern europe is at risk, especially from gangs of drunks, of which there are many. I am olive-skinned mediterrean and got bad treatment from many people who thought i was from the causcuses. Nor will you get any help from the corrupt and inept police.
Personally, I'd stay away.

There will probably be racism, but there shouldn't be a risk traveling there, as long as you don't make yourself unacceptable.

Generally russians are fine but then again you can sense a trace of racism from them. they are what I have come to known whilst interacting with them as proud people. So what ever you do not offend anyone there and you should be fine.

They have racism against Georgians (country, not state, please...) and Armenians, that are whites, only because they're not slavs, imagine blacks... Not that they will kill you, but it might be embarassing... Well there are some black soccer players playing in Russia, so it must be not dangerous.
