As a democrat who opposed Nixon, and worked for Jimmy Carter Presidient Ford I believe was a GREAT President! Our nation needed this simple caring man in the era that he served us. Looking back all of these years, President Ford accomplished for our nation the unity that few since have seen with honest simple kindness, and compassion.
God Bless President Gerald Ford from a Buckeye Fan.

Ford was a good man. And had a lifetime of achievement that seemed to be overshadowed by his unexpected ascension to President. He was an athlete, Navy Officer, Statesman, and a Good American. He served in a very very difficult time of our nation.

God Bless you Gerald Ford, thank you for your service.

I believe Mr. Ford was an honest man and that he approached the office with reverence, respect and integrity. His Presidency was somewhat of a stalemate as very little of significance happened in the plus or minus category. He had a long and distinguished career in politics and it is sad that the only things he will really be remembered for are pardoning Nixon and a slight clumsiness. Today should be a day to mourn the man, but also remember the life of a great American.

Gerald Ford was maybe the right man to fill the vacant Presidency when the Republican Party had nothing going for it. He appointed Dick Cheney and Don Rumsfeld, two time bombs that eventually blew up. He appointed John Paul Stevens to the Supreme Court which is about as bad as Carter would have done.

I am also a Democrat who opposed Nixon and supported Carter. I couldn't agree with you more. Gerald Ford provided exactly what this nation needed in one of it's darkest hours. He was stronger than most of us ever gave him credit for. He not only united the nation but he gave the citizens reason to trust in government again. God bless him indeed.

I'll second that sentiment.

After the resignation of President Richard Nixon, ours was a divided nation that needed healing. President Ford was a gentle man who brought us together as best he could.

Yep.....right man at the right time.

PS.....I despise Jimmy Carter.
