He was the 38th President of the Unites States (1974-1977). He was the only President who was not elected to the office. He was appointed Vice President by President Richard Nixon after Vice President Spiro Agnew resigned, and became President after Richard Nixon resigned because of Watergate. He pardoned President Nixon after Nixon resigned in the Watergate fiasco, and this angered many Americans. At 93, He was also the oldest living ex-president the US has ever had.
