I have the same exact thing. It is something where the pain comes and goes, but the lump will remain the whole time (a Cyst, I believe). I may not be totally accurate since the doctor explained to me in Italian, the hand is made up of many many bones...this happens when one of the tiny bones shift out of place and to deal with this a jelly-like fluid is formed and eventually hardens. The doctor told me that it is commonly found, and the only way to get rid of it is to surgically remove it via a simple procedure. Many people live with it, but at least we know there is an option to remove it if the pain gets too annoying.

Most likely a ganglion cyst. I have one on my wrist now that has been there for several months. I spoke to my doctor about it and I was told that I could have it surgically removed however it will come back. I have had several over the past five years. They have gone away on their own. They are very painful at times. At night I wear a wrist brace to keep from agitating the cyst.

Sounds like you have a ganglion cyst. A doctor can use a needle to aspirate the fluid out of it or you can have it surgically removed. There is a chance it will come back after surgery, but I'm not sure what the exact percentage is.

Ganglion cyst for sure. I had one in my wrist removed and it came back within a year! I got rid of it when I fell off a skateboard and caught myself with one arm. I overextended my wrist when I caught myself and thought I broke it. After the pain went away I noticed I had popped the cyst and after 20 years it has not returned! The old folks say hit it with a book to pop it. So get yourself a good book or a skateboard!!!

It is most likely a ganglion cyst. It is wise to get it checked by the doctor. There is a lot of information on the link below.

Likely a nerve ganglion (ganglion cycst). It can easily be removed surgically (my girlfriend had one removed) but there is a fair chance that it will return. It is likely not deadly or otherwise harmful, just a pain in the wrist.

Sounds like a ganglion cyst. At least it sounds like the one I had, but mine was on the inside of my wrist. If it is,its nothing serious but can be pretty annoying. Mine was very painful and caused my fingers to go numb

I had mine operated on (twice).
