First of all, do you have a way to change your science project? If you can talk to your teacher or professor, that may be a good idea. This is a very complicated idea. My favorite science project website is http://www.all-science-fair-projects.com/ because it has tons of great ideas, but you can google "science fair projects" and get a host of other websites.

But if you really want to do the experiment, go to the website below, on howstuffworks. It explains the physics of a boomerang. Maybe if you understand how the boomerang works, it will be easier for you to develop a procedure. Here is the website: http://science.howstuffworks.com/boomerang.htm/printable . It's a little long, but it's good!

Hope you get a good grade!

A boomerang has an airfoil cross section. To throw a boomerang, hold it with the flat part against your hand and so that the angled part points away from you. Making sure that you put lots of spin on it, throw it slightly to the right (if you are right handed) of vertical and throw parallel to the ground. The reason that they work is that the airfoil creates lift causing it to fly in a circle if thrown correctly.

hypothesis...boomerangs come back because of the angle
procedure...obtain boomerangs of different angles in the middle, and throw each with equal force. measure which returns closest to the point you threw it from

or
hypothesis...boomerangs come back because of the length of the two fins.
procedure...design boomerangs with different lengths of the fins, and throw them. see which one comes back the closest to where you threw it from

instead of waiting till last min. to do your work, you should have already gotten a boomaring and tried it and researched it over the web. now look at where you are.
