Not true. Proposition 5 which was passed in the November election bans smoking in restaurants (or bars which serve food) and in grocery store slot areas but not in casinos. The tavern owners filed a lawsuit claiming that it wasn't fair to allow smoking in the casinos but they lost in the district court -- and may appeal. The smoking areas at McCarren airport have already been closed down and it looks like it's permanent this time.

Not true > casinos are exempt from the new smoking law (wonder why) Its the little guy who got hit by the californicators here in Sin City. Bars that serve food, convenience stores, grocery stores, etc. Seems like now you have to go to a casino instead. Funny how that works, isn't it

No. Casinos are specifically exempt from Nevada's new anti-smoking law. It only affects smoking where food is served, like in small bars and corner eateries. Bars have to choose to allow smoking or serve food, not both.

Not one chance in hell. Whoever told you this was either misinformed, or is just messing with you.

Although one day I see that happening, we are not there yet. One thing Vegas prides itself on is allowing people do almost whatever they want. I am not a smoker, but when I am in casinos I have learned to deal with it, and feel it would be hypocritical to tell people that they cant smoke in there. Plus the ventitalion systems are so good that you dont even notice it in the nicer casinos.

I see it happeing in 10 years... but not sooner.

I don't think so, they do have Non smoking areas though. Imagine just how much the Casinos would save in maintenance without smoking in the gaming institutes? Millions are spent in invironmental foo foo to keep that smell off people who don't smoke and on remodeling the areas that turn nicotine brown.

Airport is suppose to go smoke free soon, but doubt if it will last long, they tried it before and had lots of problems. And I doubt if casinos will be made to go smoke free. The judge doesn't want all the problems that would cause.
